Babylon's carrying away of the captives in 597 BC involved the cream of Judah's military force and her most skillful craftsmen as they had to abandon their land and homes to go into exile. The carrying away of these captives in 597 BC was typified as harvested firstfruit "firstripe" in Jeremiah 24:2. The firstfruit harvest is identified with Pentecost. Jeremiah 24:1 The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon. Jeremiah 24:2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad. Jeremiah 24:3 Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil. Jeremiah 24:4 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah 24:5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good. 10 years latter the Final assault came on Jerusalem by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon which lasted for 7 months from Tevet 10, 588/87 BC (Surrounding of Jerusalem by the Babylonians) to Av 10, 587 BC (Temple Destroyed). 2Kings 25:1 And it came to pass in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, in the tenth day of the month, that Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came, he, and all his host, against Jerusalem, and pitched against it; and they built forts against it round about. The Temple was destroyed on Av 10, 587 BC. Jeremiah 52:12 Now in the fifth month, in the tenth day of the month, which was the nineteenth year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, came Nebuzaradan, captain of the guard, which served the king of Babylon, into Jerusalem, Jeremiah 52:13 And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire: In Ezekiel 33:21 one who escaped the destruction of Jerusalem arrived in Babylon five months later and told Ezekiel about the fall of Jerusalem. The tenth months is in December 587/586 BC. The carrying away of Jews from Jerusalem is typified as firstfruit. The absence of latter rain in Judah insured that spiritually there would not be a Final harvest in Judah (Summer to the Feast of Ingathering). The same predicament occurs to the physical organized churches (tiller of vineyard who replaced national Israel) as their harvest activity is preempted by the absence of latter rain.
Ezekiel 33:21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.
Pentecost (firstfruit) is on Sivan 6. The beginning of Summer on Sivan 16 is 10 days from Pentecost (firstfruit). Summer to the feast of Ingathering is a period of 16 weeks. Summer beginning is also a period associated with the longest day, as we have learned from our previous study. When we examined the earth's latitude in the world's primary location of agriculture harvest and populations, we discover the longest day is also associated with a length of 16 (16 hours). The beginning of summer 1996 is 10 days from beginning of the final (firstfruit) Pentecost 1987 * + 10 = 1996/1997. This parallels 597 BC (beginning of firstfruit harvest) - 10 = 587/586 BC. *note the Pentecost Harvest can be sealed in time, before actual completion and was a harvest of 7 weeks(1987-1994). 10 days from start of Final Pentecost Harvest to Summer diagram
