Note: Before examining any action that involves obedience to God by Man we must remember the overriding controlling factor it is God's will not ours.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
Noah's Example of Sealing before the flood occurred 7 days before the Flood: Noah's obedience to the commandments of God by building the ark and doing all what was commanded by God sealed him seven days before the flood.
Genesis 6:22 Thus did Noah; according to all that God commanded him, so did he. Genesis 7:1 And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Genesis 7:2 Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female Genesis 7:3 Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. Genesis 7:4 For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth.
We see the obedience to the commandment of God in effect seals the believer with the Holy Spirit of promise in Ephesians 1:13 and it was Noah's obedience before the flood that sealed him in Hebrews 11:7.
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
However, Noah still did go through the flood and the earth remained cursed (under the Flood) until the end of the Flood.
Genesis 8:13 And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
This pattern of sealing the true believers at the time of a Flood is consistent with the last previous type of Final Tribulation-Obedience to God's command to become the captives of Babylon by the Israelites (true believers) sealed (protected them from the Flood), yet these true believers still went through to the 70th week (year) as captives which typified the end of the World (end of the Flood ).
The destroying of land of Judah by Babylon was typified as a Flood:
Jeremiah 47:2 Thus saith the LORD; Behold, waters rise up out of the north, and shall be an overflowing flood, and shall overflow the land, and all that is therein; the city, and them that dwell therein: then the men shall cry, and all the inhabitants of the land shall howl.
Marked obedience by obeying God's command to become captives protected the true believers from the Flood (see study Good and Bad Figs):
Jeremiah 24:5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good
Yet the picture of the end of the world 70th week (year) did not come until Babylon was destroyed (Flood Ended): Daniel 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. |
