New Testament Temple destroyed after 46 years as an institution for bringing the Saving Gospel. In John 2:15, after Jesus had driven the money changer out of the Temple, the Jews asked for a sign from Jesus to show HE had authority to do this. Jesus replied; "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." In John 2:20, the Jews thought Jesus was referring to a physical Temple in Jerusalem , but HE was referring to HIS body. John 2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. John 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? John 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body. The 46 years in building identifies with the years in the physical construction of the 2nd Temple, but on another spiritual level the time period parallels the last 46 years in building of another temple the church, which also dies as a physical organization for bringing the Gospel. We see this in Revelation 11:7, when the two witnesses are killed a picture of the end of the True Believers ministry of the Gospel through the means of the physical organized churches). Revelation 11:7 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. Jesus, also, when referring to the Temple being destroyed speaks of a time coming when there would not be left one stone upon another when this Temple is destroyed. Matthew 24:1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. Matthew 24:2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Matthew 24:3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? From the statement in Matthew 24:2 we know that God was not referring to the physical destruction of the 2nd Temple at Jerusalem in A.D. 70 by the Romans, because even today several stones integral to the physical 2nd Temple are still left upon one another, for example the Temple Foundations and Wailing Wall. |

Examining the context of Matthew 24:3, we discover that the destruction of this Temple takes place sometime near the end of the World. We see in 1Corinthians 3 12-17 the physical organized church is the only temple toward the end of the World that has claims to any relationship to Christ. The true believers in these physical organized churches are pictured as gold, silver and precious stones in the Temple, while the unsaved members in the physical organized churches are described as wood, hay and stubble in the Temple. 1Corinthians 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; 1Corinthians 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. 1Corinthians 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. 1Corinthians 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? 1Corinthians 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are We also see from Ephesians 2:20-21 that these stones are fitted together and form the physical organized churches. Ephesians 2:20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; Ephesians 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord. But in Matthew 24:2-3 Jesus speaks of Time near the End where the Temple does not have one stone left upon one another. So, when we reexamine Matthew 24:2, we know Jesus was speaking of the end of the church as an institution for carrying the Gospel. Thus, we see the fulfillment of this Prophecy in our Day, where the true believers are no longer stones compacted or fitted upon another in the organized physical organized churches. Those true believers who are still in the physical organized churches will leave prior to the return of Christ and those who stay will come under the Judgment of God following the end of the 18 year Final Great Tribulation period. Revelation 18:4 And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. |

The organized churches just as Ephraim was a temporal custodian of the ark (Law of God and the Temple) falls under the weight of their many sins and spiritual pride despite the warning of GOD in Romans 11:25. Romans 11:22 Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. Romans 11:23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. Romans 11:24 For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in, |
||
From WordNet (r) 1.7: conceit n 1: feelings of excessive pride [syn: amour propre, self-love, vanity] 2: the trait of being vain and conceited [syn: vanity] |
||
Just as Israel was cut off because of blindness and spiritual pride and only a remnant was saved, the same things happens to the physical organized churches near the End of the World where only a remnant of those in the church are saved and depart out, while a large group of people outside of the physical organized churches are saved. |

Revelation 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. |
