Abstract from Anchor Bible Dictionary
ARK OF THE COVENANT [I, 386–93] A sacred object that represented the presence of God in ancient Israelite religion. 1. Ark of God/YHWH. The ark is most often (82 times) associated with some divine name: “ark of God,” “ark of YHWH,” “ark of the God of Israel,” “ark of the lord of all the earth,” or the like. Most of these occur in the Deuteronomistic History; the rest are in Chronicles. In the Ark Narrative of 1 Samuel 4–6, we learn that the ark was associated with the divine name “YHWH of Hosts who sits enthroned upon the cherubim” (1 Sam 4:4; cf. 2 Sam 6:2; 1 Chr 13:6).
The Ark was taken in a battle by the Philistines in 1068 BC. This was an event that occurred in the same year with the death of Eli the high Priest and his wicked sons: (1 Sam. 1:3; 1 Sam. 2:12,22-24). Because Eli did not restrain his wicked sons the Lord promised to purge the evil from Israel (1 Sam. 3:11-14). Eli's sons were killed and Eli himself died when he fell over backwards off his seat and broke his neck upon hearing that the ark of the Lord had been taken by the Philistines (1 Sam. 4:11-18). Eli judged Israel for 40 years (1 Sam 4:18). The Ark's removal from Israel typified God's removal of the Holy Spirit from the churches indicating judgment had started on Israel (physical Churches) the start of Great Tribulation and Abomination of Desolation.
1Samuel 4:10 ¶ And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen. 1Samuel 4:11 And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain. 1Samuel 4:12 ¶ And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head. 1Samuel 4:13 And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city cried out. 1Samuel 4:14 And when Eli heard the noise of the crying, he said, What meaneth the noise of this tumult? And the man came in hastily, and told Eli. 1Samuel 4:15 Now Eli was ninety and eight years old; and his eyes were dim, that he could not see. 1Samuel 4:16 And the man said unto Eli, I am he that came out of the army, and I fled to day out of the army. And he said, What is there done, my son? 1Samuel 4:17 And the messenger answered and said, Israel is fled before the Philistines, and there hath been also a great slaughter among the people, and thy two sons also, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God is taken. 1Samuel 4:18 And it came to pass, when he made mention of the ark of God, that he fell from off the seat backward by the side of the gate, and his neck brake, and he died: for he was an old man, and heavy. And he had judged Israel forty years.
The return of the ark from the hands of the Philistines was in 1067 BC. This was an event that occurred in the same year that Samuel (Godly Priest) began to judge Israel; This event typified the return of Christ who removes Satan as the de facto ruler from the physical churches (cast into the lake of fire, Revelation 20:10) and God establishes his rulership of a new heaven and a new earth which cannot ever again be defiled:
Revelation 21:22 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. Revelation 21:23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof. Revelation 21:24 And the nations of them which are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth do bring their glory and honour into it. Revelation 21:25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. Revelation 21:26 And they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

The Bible mentions that the ark was returned during wheat harvest (1Samuel 6:13 ) * and was held for seven month (7 months proximity is 1067 BC). Ark of God returned to Israel after 7 months (1Sam 6:1, 7:1-2). Samuel judged Israel.
1Samuel 6:1 ¶ And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months. 1Samuel 7:1 ¶ And the men of Kirjathjearim came, and fetched up the ark of the LORD, and brought it into the house of Abinadab in the hill, and sanctified Eleazar his son to keep the ark of the LORD. 1Samuel 7:2 And it came to pass, while the ark abode in Kirjathjearim, that the time was long; for it was twenty years: and all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD
*wheat harvest is identified with the final harvest:
1Samuel 6:13 And they of Bethshemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley: and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it. John 4:35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. |

There are 3,060 years between 1068 BC [Ark in Philistines' hand] and the year 1993/1994 AD [End of Pentecost Harvest in physical organized churches and severe famine ]. 3,060 has factors of 153 [identified with the completion of Pentecost Harvest], 4 [complete end] and 5 [judgment/salvation]. The number 4 is identified with the universal (worldwide- 4 winds, Mark 13:27) and the number 4 Biblical usage is connected with the end of an event. For examples, the Children of Israel were in the wilderness for 40 years which has multiples of 10 (completeness) X 4 (end) and God's four sore judgments upon Jerusalem. The complete end of their wilderness journey ended in 40 years and the four sore judgments which result in the end of Physical Jerusalem. Mark 13:27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven. Numbers 32:13 And the LORD’S anger was kindled against Israel, and he made them wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed. Ezekiel 14:21 For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast? The number 5 is identified with judgment/salvation: Pictures of Judgment Joshua 10:26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening. 1Samuel 6:4 Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords. 1Chronicles 11:23 And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff, and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand, and slew him with his own spear. Luke 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Matthew 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Pictures of Salvation John 5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. Acts 4:4 Howbeit many of them which heard the word believed; and the number of the men was about five thousand. Matthew 25:2 And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. The number 153 (17 -Heaven x 9 Purpose) The Completion of the Pentecost Harvest (typified by the sealed 153 fish in the net) would be in the year Tishri (fall) 1993 to Tishri (fall) 1994. John 21:11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net to land full of great fishes, an hundred and fifty and three: and for all there were so many, yet was not the net broken.

Revelation 7:9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands; Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. Revelation 7:11 And all the angels stood round about the throne, and about the elders and the four beasts, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, Revelation 7:12 Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. Revelation 7:13 And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arrayed in white robes? and whence came they? Revelation 7:14 And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.
The integral relation with the number 19 and judgment with 1993/1994 AD and 1068/1067 BC
1+9+9+4+1+6+8* = 38 (2X19) (19 identified with length of Great Tribulation Period) *Note The adding of the numerical value of significant biblical year(s) may give us another number that has significant biblical importance for example: 1994 AD 1+9+9+4 = 23 (judgment) and 2012 AD 2+0+1+2 = 5 (judgment/salvation)
1+9+9+4+1+6+7= 37 (Judgment) There are 3,078 years between 1067 BC [Ark out Philistines' hand] and the year 2012 AD [Return of Christ]. 3,078 has factors of 19, 81 (3 to the 4th power) and 2 1+9+9+3+1+6+8= 37 (Judgment)
The Number 37 is a factor of 185 (5 x 37) is identified with judgment
Sennacherib (King Assyria- typified as Kingdom of Satan) dealt treacherously with Hezekiah (Isa. 33:1), and a second time within two years invaded his kingdom (2 Kings 18:17; 2 Chr. 32:9; Isa. 36). This invasion issued in the destruction of Sennacherib’s army. Hezekiah prayed to God, and “that night the angel of the Lord went out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians 185,000 men. Interestingly in 2Kings 18:31, prior to the destruction of the 185,000 the King of Assyria solicits those in Jerusalem to join him (Satan's Kingdom, during the Great Tribulation the physical organized churches are under the rule of Satan) that they may eat of their own vine and fig, this is opposite of the vineyard that is owned by God, Luke 20:13-15.
2Kings 18:31 Hearken not to Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his cistern:
The two previous beginning of rain seasons are identified with the beginnings of great famine during periods that typified Final Tribulation and with the number 19
5 +9+7 +1+8+8= 38 (2X19) 596 BC - 57 years (3X19) = 539 BC (end of typified Great Tribulation) 1879 BC (harvest year for beginning of Great famine) - 19 years = 1860 BC (end of typified Great Tribulation) |

1993 * (beginning of rain season attributable to 1994 harvest year) + 19 years = 2012 (end of Great Tribulation) God sometimes equates the season of rain with the harvest season, because of their integral relationship. James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain Note: Sowing Time Tishri, latter half (beginning about the autumnal equinox.) Cheshvan. Kislev, former half. Early rain due = first showers of autumn. |
